5 in a row!

Delighted to report that Drake has finished the autumn term with a 5th win of the house shield! Congratulations to the whole house. This is an amazing achievement and demonstrates superbly how well the house functions as a unit.
They are most definitely not 'one trick ponies' as they are excellent across the board, which has secured the house shield for the 5th term.

Excellent led by Anna and ably supported by Henry and Pauline, they are a house to be reckoned with! Well done Drake! Can we do it for a 6th time??

HOUSE SHOUT!

Delighted to report a trimvirate of success by Drake pupils at the House shout today!
Bea came first in the Junior competition (jointly with Edward), with Chris winning the middles and Kit winning the seniors. Well done to the three of them!
As for the house shout....we won on the musicality..but the overall performance this year went to Nelson...and if I honest, it was justly deserved. However.....we came a highly creditable 2nd....and very very proud of everyone I am too! Thank you to them all for their hard work.

Here is the house about 15 minutes before we went into the theatre.....!

Happy half term to all of Drake!

Drake House Successes so far......

Drake have gone from 4th to joint 1st in the stars over the course of this half term. In addition they are performing their duties brilliantly and have also earned a huge number of pinks, which are awarded for being good and kind citizens of the school. As their House Mistress I cannot take any credit for their achievements but you as parents, must be (rightly) extremely proud of them.
Have a good half term everyone!

Senior House Hockey!

When the whole country seems to be buzzing about rugby at the moment, the Senior House Hockey in our wonderful sports centre provided a welcome change. Some great hockey moment were seen, some fabulous goals and terrific displays of teamwork. And an extremely creditable (joint) second to Drake! Well done ladies!

Welcome back to the little Drakelets!

So, welcome back to everybody! We've had a great start here in Drake and excitedly looking ahead to many great house competitions this term.
Firstly I need to thank all of the Drake Seniors who have now left us to go onto their new schools. We had the most successful end of summer term, with a 4th win of the house shield and it was largely down to them. We would like to wish them every success at their new schools and look forward to hearing tales of their new endeavours.

Drake now welcomes Dima, Sasha, Benji, Mimi, Alba (yr 7), Bart, Ti, Jose,
Lucia, Jensen, Alba (yr 8!), Phoebe, Matthew, Blake, Rebecca and Nathan to join the extremely happy throng of children wearing red and carrying ducks around the school! Welcome to you all. We hope that you will be very happy in our house.

Junior and Middle House Cricket

Wednesday 17th June: weather cloudy but warm. Just the perfect weather for the Junior and Middle House cricket matches. Superbly umpired by Mr Franklin, Mr Brundish and Mr Johnston. Mrs A in support of Drake, having dispensed with her usual 'pink' now sporting a superb outfit in red...complete with 'that hat'!
It was a terrific afternoon's play, with some great displays of fielding and batting by all players. Well done to all!

Results: 3rd in the Middle House Cricket and Drake won the Junior House Cricket.
Thank you to all of the boys in Drake for a splendid afternoon's entertainment and examples of good sportsmanship.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

So, second House meeting of the term....! I leave it in the hands of Mr Miller and Miss Wybar as I am off to London with the Year 7s. And what does the House get up to in my absence???!!!

I hope that they are not so laid back that they think this is the way to win the
House Shield again and pass CE?!!

That said, I am sure that a little relaxation before the start of a very busy day
probably won't have hurt any of them!

February already?

Really? Almost half term already? Good grief...where has the half term gone too? The seniors are committing their hearts and souls into their rehearsals for 'Oliver', which has just four weeks to go until our first dress rehearsal! Time seems to be flying and there is never a quiet or dull moment: the children are considering themselves, whilst enjoying their food glorious food before they pick your pockets!

And what about the rest of Drake? How have they got on this first half term? Well...after the first two weeks...they were in second place to another house...but then two weeks ago, they pulled together as a team and are now leading in the stars and minuses. This week we had a junior who beat everyone in the house with a terrific score! Well done to Ferdinand: your house is proud of you. But also congratulations to the other children who have achieved high scores this week: Toby and Millie. Well done.

Sport: mixed bag of sports results so far this term. 3rd in the senior house rugby (it was a bitterly cold day and we suffered more than our fair share of injuries that afternoon), 2nd in the middle house rugby BUT we won the junior hockey and also we won the junior house rugby. Both teams are clearly forces to be reckoned with. Congrats to all of our teams and huge thanks for your commitment to Drake.
